The Legend of Sullivan’s Mountain
Many years ago there lived an adventurous young man named Sullivan. He made his fortune in the big cities, but grew to hate the life he had there and decided to live a life of solitude upon a big mountain surrounded by jungles, with all their dangers and perils. He determined in his heart not to share his fortune and hid it in the upper most cave of the mountain. He then placed the key to the “Chest of Fortune” around the neck of a wounded, but recovering lion.
As the years went by he grew wiser and realised the foolishness of his ways. He decided to find the lion and return with his treasure to share it among the poor. However he was old and weak, and could not find the lion with its key, neither did he have the strength to carry the treasure down the mountain. He had learnt over the years how to survive the many dangers and perils of the mountain and jungle, so he wrote on scrolls the wisdom of his years. He placed the scrolls around the mountain in safe places and also deep within the jungle.
When back in the city, he set in motion the story of his treasure and how it could be found. He told them how they need certain things, which he called a kit, to move on the difficult trail. These necessary items of kit are stored in caves on and around the mountain. Unfortunately these caves are also inhabited by the dangers and perils you would expect to find on Sullivan’s Mountain of adventure. The scrolls and items of kit are there, along with the venomous spiders, snakes, lions, snow leopards and swooping eagles. Try if you dare to tread this trail which leads to his treasure, not forgetting to take the key from the lion’s neck on the way! Supplied
